We made "A Venusian Song" later in 2014, after 8 from 10 songs were already finished and ready to be mixed by Alex. So YES, one song was dropped (What We Say) because it didn't fit with the other tracks.
I had the very same feeling when I first heard the vocal part as when I first heard Bitter Moon's. We joked about it like "yay, it's sort of a hit song".
